Gutter Repair in Hickory, NC

Sagging runs re-hung and re-pitched, leaking seams stripped and resealed, downspouts reattached and re-routed, underground drains jetted clear. We check whether your fascia is sound before we quote, because that is what decides whether you need a repair at all.

Most Gutter Problems Are Repairable. Some Are Not.

A lot of homeowners are quoted a full replacement for something that needed four hangers and a resealed corner. Some gutters genuinely are past saving. The difference is usually the condition of the fascia board behind them, and that is the first thing we look at.

Sagging and Pulling Away

The most common repair we run in Catawba and Alexander County. Wet debris is heavy, and a season of it pulls hangers loose and drops the middle of a run. We re-hang on the correct spacing and re-establish the pitch so water actually moves toward the outlet.

Leaking Seams, Corners and End Caps

Every joint in a sectional gutter is a future leak, because metal moves with temperature and sealant does not last forever. We strip the failed sealant back to clean metal rather than smearing new product over old, then flow-test the joint before we call it done.

Downspouts and Underground Drains

Reattached, re-secured, re-routed away from the foundation, and replaced where they are crushed. Blocked underground runs get cleared with a sewer jetter. A clean gutter still overflows if the water has nowhere to go.

Wrong Pitch and Standing Water

If there is water sitting in your gutter an hour after the rain stops, the pitch is wrong or the outlet is restricted. Standing water is dead weight, it breeds mosquitoes, and it rots the fascia from behind. Re-pitching a run is usually a straightforward fix.

Loose Fasteners and Failed Hangers

Old spike-and-ferrule gutters work themselves loose over the years. We replace failed spikes with hidden hangers, which grip the front lip and the fascia rather than relying on a nail that has already lost its hold once.

Storm and Impact Damage

A limb through a gutter run does not always mean the whole system. Often it is one section, one corner, and a downspout. We will scope exactly what has to be replaced rather than quoting the whole house by reflex.

When Repair Is the Right Call, and When It Is Not

Repair usually makes sense when the fascia is solid, the gutter itself is straight and not corroded, and the problem is localised: a sagging section, a couple of leaking joints, a downspout that has come away, or water standing because the pitch has shifted. These are hours of work, not days, and they buy you years.

Replacement is the better spend when the fascia has rotted and there is nothing sound to fasten to, when a sectional system is leaking at several joints at once, or when the gutters are undersized for the roof and overflow even when perfectly clean. Repairing a run that fails again next season is not a saving.

If you are close to the line, we will say so and give you both numbers. If replacement is the answer, our seamless gutter installation is fabricated on site with no seams along the run, which removes the joints that are leaking on you now.

How a Gutter Repair Visit Runs

1

We look at the fascia first

Before anything else we check whether the board behind the gutter is sound. That single question decides whether you are buying a repair or a replacement, and you deserve the answer before the quote, not after.

2

Clear the run so we can see it

You cannot diagnose a gutter full of debris. We blow the run out, flush it, and clear the downspouts, including jetting underground drains where needed.

3

Flow-test to find the real fault

We run water through the system and watch where it goes. Leaks, low spots and restrictions show themselves under water in a way they never do under inspection.

4

Written fixed price before work starts

You get the scope and the number in writing. No hourly creep, no discovering a bigger job halfway through without a conversation first.

5

Repair, then flow-test again

Every repair gets re-tested before we pack up, and we clean up the debris we generated. You should not be able to tell we were there except that the gutters work.

Repair Often Starts With a Cleaning

A large share of the repairs we quote were caused by debris weight in the first place. If the run is full, a professional gutter cleaning is step one and sometimes it is the whole answer, because a clean gutter that drains properly was never broken. If debris is a recurring problem on your property, RainDrop gutter guards address the cause rather than the symptom, and we install them as a registered installer with a 20-year transferable warranty.

Gutter Repair Questions & Answers

The honest test is the fascia board behind the gutter. If the board is still solid, almost everything else is repairable: hangers, pitch, seams, downspouts, end caps. If the board has gone soft or the gutter has torn its fasteners out of rotted wood, you are replacing rather than repairing, because there is nothing sound left to attach to. We check that first and tell you which one you are looking at before we quote anything.
Almost always weight. A run full of wet debris can hold a surprising amount of water, and that load pulls the hangers down over a season or two. Once the run sags it holds even more water, which accelerates it. If we catch it before the fascia gives up we can re-hang and re-pitch the section and it will hold. That is a repair, not a replacement.
Yes. Corners and end caps are the most common leak points on sectional gutters because they are joints, and joints move with temperature. We clean the joint back to bare metal, re-seal it properly, and flow-test it before we leave. If a run has failed at several joints we will tell you honestly that seamless replacement is the better spend.
Yes. Reattaching downspouts, re-routing them away from the foundation, replacing crushed or disconnected sections, and clearing blocked underground runs with a sewer jetter. A blocked underground drain backs water up into a perfectly clean gutter, which is why we flow-test rather than just looking at the trough.
No. Estimates are free and written, with fixed pricing before any work starts. If we get on the roof and find the problem is smaller than you thought, the quote reflects that.
